To understand traditional Architectural elements in Islamic world that are used to create visually pleasing and functionally working structures.
The Mizana (a tower to call for prayer) or as called (Minaret) is an essential element in the Islamic world architecture, with its various styles and rich designs, started to lose its function with the development of technology, and became more Symbolic element.
The workshop aims to design new Modern Minaret inspired by traditional ones.
METHOD
Groups of 2-3 students will be established to: choose one site, where there was no minaret, or it was destroyed during earthquake
1- create analysis presentation with storyboards to explain the elements forming the Minaret, and design concept adopted.
2-Design a modern Minaret including some of the traditional elements modernized to suite the recent era.
3- Create a 2 Minute Video to show your design
4- prepare a 3D model to be printable with 3D printer
